A Commemorative Treasure....
A Holiday Delight!

Box: 11 1/2\" x 7\" x 2 3/8\"....5 Ornaments, each between 2\" - 3\" tall....Resin, Rhinestone and Metal with Gold Cord Hangers....Created exclusively for Disney Direct (The Disney Catalog)....Made in China....Limited Edition....©Disney....2005

From its splashy debut at the 1964 New York World\'s Fair, Walt Disney\'s salute to children everywhere, It\'s A Small World, has been a favorite of all ages. Of course, the fact that it features the world\'s most infectious song (penned by Disney Legends Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman) does not hurt, but the whimsical styling of the attraction and its delightful characters are a beloved part of the experience as well--an experience that can now be had in Disney theme parks all around our \"small world!\"Following the 1965 closing of the New York fair, the original Small World attraction moved to Disneyland in California, where it plays to packed boatloads daily.

To celebrate the 2005 50th anniversary of Disneyland, Disney Artist Kevin Kidney created this spectacular commemorative collection of Christmas Ornaments featuring miniature replicas of some of the \"residents\" of It\'s A Small World. The five collectible figures were cast in resin, carefully hand-painted and in two cases, plussed with metal accessories, rhinestones and, where appropriate, glitter. They were sold in an unspecified limited edition from Disney Direct (then the name for The Disney Catalog) and are difficult to find now, more than a decade later.

These 5 pieces are painstakingly true to the original \"swingin\' sixties\" sculpts, designs and color palette:

Swiss Cuckoo Clock with Bell Ringer

Grinning Blue African Hippo (with Tic Tic / Oxpecker Bird)

Smiling Central Clock Face

Time-Chiming Court Jester

\"Toy Doll\" Figure of Mary Blair

It should be noted that this is truly a set commemorating not just the attraction in general, but its presence at Disneyland specifically, since the enormous, white \"palace\" building did not appear at the World\'s Fair but was designed for the show\'s debut at Disneyland. The Clock Face and the Jester were new additions for this design, and the little Jester is part of the elaborate ceremony every 15 minutes when the center of the building opens up to reveal the correct time! (The Jester strikes the quarter hours with his little triangle.)

Also, the little toy doll figure holding the balloon is a caricature of none other that legendary Disney designer and color stylist Mary Blair! Working with fellow Disney luminaries Marc Davis, Alice Davis, Rolly Crump and T. Hee, Mary crafted the color and child-like playfulness of the attraction overall, and was saluted with her stylized likeness being included in the attraction. The figure can be seen standing within the Eiffel Tower in the French area, and the black sleeves and tights under the bright yellow flowered smock is a copy of the chic ensembles Mary wore to work at WED Imagineering. Fittingly, she has sparkling blue rhinestone eyes!

The ornaments come nestled in white satin-covered niches within a sturdy box. The art on the box lid is a reproduction of one of the many paper collages assembled by Mary Blair during the design process for the Disneyland It\'s A Small World building.

This truly fabulous collectible is absolutely pristine. It has been in smoke-free storage since it was purchased originally in 2005, and the ornaments have never been displayed! The box has even been covered safely in its original plastic shipping bag (with the product number stickers still attached).

**Please note that the last photograph in our listing is the original 2005 catalog image, included here for reference only!**

If you missed this set in 2005, now is your chance to deck your Christmas Tree with some of the most beguiling--and artfully accurate--Disney Ornaments ever. Enjoy celebrating this treasured attraction which just continues to get better and better through the years (and, in California, now even celebrates Christmas itself with a seasonal \"overdressing!\")!
