The term Public Enemy was first widely used in the United States in the 1930s to describe individuals whose activities were seen as criminal and extremely dangerous to society. Our new Category: Outlaws, Criminals & Gangsters intends to shed light on those individuals throughout history who have profoundly & notoriously breached the rules and laws of civilized society...-Bonnie & Clyde, 1933-This view shows Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in March, 1933, in a photo found by police at the Joplin, Missouri hideout. It\'s an amateur photo that has a slight editing \'grain\' texture to improve clarity and is as clear as is available. Bonnie Parker (October 1, 1910 – May 23, 1934) and Clyde Barrow (March 24, 1909 – May 23, 1934) were well known outlaws, robbers, and criminals who, with their gang, traveled the Central United States during the Great Depression. They captured the attention of the American press and its readership during what is sometimes referred to as the \"public enemy era\" between 1931 and 1934.Though known today for his dozen-or-so bank robberies, Barrow in fact preferred to rob small stores or rural gas stations. The gang is believed to have killed at least nine police officers and committed several civilian murders. They were eventually ambushed and killed in Louisiana by law officers on May 23, 1934, on a desolate road near their Bienville Parish, Louisiana hideout. The couple appeared in daylight in an automobile and were shot by a posse of four Texas officers and two Louisiana officers. Questions about the way the ambush was conducted, and the failure to warn the duo of impending death, have been raised about the incident. Many of our views have found their way into lecture halls, museums, art galleries, publications, and ordinary homes throughout the world. The photos in this category were often taken under less than ideal photographic conditions and it would therefore be unrealistic to expect every image to be perfect in every way. This new Black & White Print of theoriginal archive is on Heavy Premium Glossy Photo Paper, Large 11\" x 8\"format, (exact dimensions may vary) in flawless condition.
